Vanessa Bourgaize

Vanessa Bourgaize, FCCA, is an experienced and reliable accountant with 25 years in the Guernsey finance industry, including 19 years post-qualification. She brings a well-rounded skill set to her role at AFR, which she joined in February 2023, drawing on a background that spans audit, banking, and trust and corporate services.

Vanessa began her career in audit with one of the 'Big Four' firms directly after school, where she combined full-time work with her professional studies. This early experience laid a strong foundation in financial reporting, attention to detail, and adaptability.

She went on to work for two global banks over a six-year period, focusing on management reporting and consolidated accounting for their Guernsey operations. During this time, she worked on a number of cross-border projects alongside teams in New York, gaining valuable experience in international collaboration and project coordination.

Vanessa later transitioned into the trust and corporate services sector, working as a client accountant for a local firm. This role gave her exposure to regulatory compliance, client relationship management, and trust and company accounting.

At AFR, Vanessa enjoys the variety and pace of her role in Court Row. Her responsibilities include bookkeeping, purchase ledger control, preparing and reviewing company accounts, budgets and forecasts, preparation of monthly management accounts, tax returns, GFSC regulatory returns, banking forms, and overseeing billing and payroll. She is valued for her methodical approach, organisational skills, and team-oriented mindset.

Outside of work, Vanessa is a busy mum of two and enjoys keeping active. She is a marathon runner, netball player, and skier, and brings enthusiasm and balance to both her professional and personal life.
