  • Bonds & Security Advice

The taking of charges over real property in Guernsey (Bonds) is a matter upon which we frequently advise either the lender or the borrower. We customarily carry out property searches in connection with the registration of Bonds, and can also advise on the cancellation or variation of any Bond which has already been registered. With regard to other security, we can advise on the taking of security over shares, investment portfolios and other asset classes.

  • Commercial Property

We advise on the purchase, sale, leasing and re-leasing of all types of commercial property in Guernsey.

  • Residential Property

Our conveyancing department is able to advise on the purchase and sale of residential and other property in the island. We also advise on boundaries, rights and servitudes, estate and flat covenants and planning issues.

  • Leases

AFR can draft, amend, approve and transfer any form of commercial or residential lease. We advise on rent reviews, arbitration and interpretation of covenants in leases.

  • Planning & Development

AFR can advise on the Planning Law, which came into effect on 6 April 2009. This is a régime which requires detailed and specialist knowledge of the principal Law and the several Ordinances.

  • Share Transfers

It is not uncommon for the more expensive dwellings in Guernsey to change hands by transferring the shares in an owning company. We are used to dealing with such transactions and frequently advise either the vendor or purchaser on the terms of the sale and purchase agreement on the under-lying property and upon any legal issues which arise out of the transaction.
